Shangla civil society members protests custodial deaths and torture

SHANGLA: The local residents particularly civil society members of Kana tehsil have blocked the Shahpur-Ajmeer road on Saturday and staged protest against custodial death of an accused at police station Karora and also torture and stripping a man at Tehkal Peshawar.
The protesters gathered at Shahpur bazaar chowk and chanting slogans against the police brutality and demanding justice for the victims.
Sultan rome, Gulab Shahpuri, Khan Gee led the protest, while addressing at the protesters they said that extra-judicial killings on rise in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but still police department not moved to reforms.
“Syed Akbar Ali Shah who was killed in the lockup and later police turned it suicide and now they say medical report is not received. Police get orphaned the kids of victim as the victim has been working as truck driver to meet ends,” Sultan Rome, said .
He said, they wanted justice for the bereaved family and free education to his children.
Gulab Shahpuri, said police need reforms in the rules and and end the criminal activities such killing and stripping, dishounring and inhuman acts may create unrest among the public.
He said, police should get public the medical report of Syed Akbar Ali Shah and immediately arrest all the culprits behind his alleged murder.
Speakers said that Tehkal incident was shameful and defamed the entire police department and such inhuman incidents happen in the police station which are unlawful and pathetic.
Protesters demanded of the government to take strict action and register cases against those police officials involved in both cases and provide justice to affected families.
