Lineman injured, house collapse as rain continues across Shangla

A house collapsed after struck by landslide and Bisham-Swat road blocked at multiple locations due to landslide as heavy rainfall continued for fourth consecutive day.

The heavy downpour started to lash on Thursday and continued for fourth consecutive day due to which a heavy landslide struck a house at Batkot area of Bisham tehsil on Sunday, however family members were unhurt.

Station House Officer, Arif Khan said the house of Arshad Khan was hit by the landslide where local took part in the rescue work and moved the family to safer place and also their goods shifted to nearby house.

The Bisham-Swat road was also blocked at Bely Baba, Shangla top, Alpuri, Machar and Yakhtangay area due to which passengers stranded on both sides of the main road.

The district administration on Sunday also issued an emergency alert by canceling the holidays of revenue and health department staff to keep them vigilant to tackle with emergencies.

The link roads lead to different areas were also blocked by the landslide which restricted the local people to their houses.

Lineman of the Peshawar Electric Supply company was injured after falling from the pylon while fixing a fault developed due to rainfall.
