SHANGLA: Wildlife department Shangla has arrested a man over illegal hunting and recovered 08 Chukars and 04 traps from his possession here at Dandai in Bisham tehsil on Monday, four Chukars were killed and four were alive.
Misbahuddin, deputy range officer Wildlife Shangla, told The Northern Post that following a tip-off they stopped a van at Dandai and during search they found 08 Chukars and four traps which were used in trapping the Chukars by the hunters.
He said, they apprehended the accused identified as Zubair, resident of Gunangar, tehsil Chakesar, Shangla who had been arrested many times by the wildlife officials for illegal hunting.
The Range officer said, they had also recovered four traps from the accused, of eight Chukars four were alive in Cages and the rest of four were slaughtered.
The accused was later produced before the local magistrate, Khuram Rehman Jadoon, who fined him Rs 120,000 and suspended his licence too.
Nasir Ali, wildlife watcher, said they have also arrested several illegal hunters in this year and would continue the efforts for meant to save every wildlife from hunting.
He said they were also rewarded with 25 per cent of the fine by the wildlife department.
