Two die as landslide hit mini truck in Upper Kohistan

A truck driver and their helper died after the mini-truck was hit by a landslide on the Karakoram Highway at Lotar area of Upper Kohistan on Monday night, the road was blocked for the traffic.

The district police officer, Upper Kohistan, Muhammad Khalid told The Northern Post that a mini-truck was heading towards Skardu Gilgit Baltistan when it was hit by the landslide in Loatar area.

DPO said both driver and helper were critically injured and being shifted to a hospital in Dassu Upper Kohistan when they succumbed to their injuries.

He said both deceased hailed to Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan, and their bodies were dispatched to their native town from Kohistan.

DPO said the Karakoram Highway had been cleared for all sorts of traffic on Tuesday morning.

The Karakoram Highway is the world-long route that connects Pakistan with China at Khunjrab and dangerous road for travel as fatal accidents have occurred on it for hundreds of times.
