The residents of Martung tehsil have demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to make the only health facility of the area operational which newly built building was inaugurated in 2020 but yet to be made fully functional for the local masses healthcare.
Tehsil Martung is consisting of mountainous area with 103,205 population but most the tehsil people have to visit hospitals in the other tehsils due to lack of functional nearby health facility.
The Rural Health Centre’s new building was inaugurated by the then PTI’s leader and current MPA, Abdul Munim in 2020 but it yet to be made fully functional and according to the health officials only paramedics staff present at the facility nor having required machines nor equipments.
Shujat Ali Khan, a local said RHC Martung was the only health facility for the entire tehsil which was connected with the Bunir district but the facility was looking just like an empty building.
He said the PML-N former MPA had claimed on social media while sharing an order copy of the health department that Rs 700,0000 had been approved for purchase of machinery and equipment for the Martung tehsil Rural Health Centre during the interim government but that was also turned to be a political claim.
Health department official said the hospital lacking laboratory, X-ray machine, required equipment for labour room and other essential stuff for which the district health office sent several letters of requests but practical measures could not be taken.
Mujeeb Ur Rehman, another local said they took their patient to far off hospitals for all kind of treatment because the lack of health facility in their area although former constituency PK-24 MPA was from Martung tehsil but he was failed to make the hospital fully functional.
He said hospital and provision of healthcare was their fundamental right and state was responsible to ensure basic health facilities to us.
He added that they wanted the incumbent government take practical steps for their hospital and overcome their troubles.
Abdul Munim, MPA for PK-29 who had inaugurated the health facility told The Northern Post that it was his priority to make this health facility operational and provide required machinery and equipments.
He said he had made efforts for making it operational in the previous government but he was not MPA and the PTI government was dissolved early, however he assured that this time he would make it fully functional.
