Polio workers, officials gets awards for excellent performance in 2018

SHANGLA: Shields and cash prizes were given away to over 150 vaccinators, workers and officials over excellent performance in the 2018 anti-polio campaigns. The ceremony was held in a government college’s hall in Alpuri area, where additional deputy commissioner Maqbool Hussain was the chief guest.

Shangla EPI coordinator Dr Wajid Ali said the reward was meant to appreciate and encourage polio workers and others, who played a vital role in making the campaigns successful.
He said these workers were being provided services in difficulties in such hard, remote areas of the district and their hectic efforts must be recognised.
He added that about 150 workers including officials three from each union councils, Lady health workers, EPI technicians, Police, UCMOs, team leaders, TTMs, UPEC chairmans and secretaries, Survilences, heads of line department and employees of DC office rewarded with the awards of shields and cash prizes.
DHO, Muhammad Riaz, said, making the country of polio free is a shared responsibility of every citizen to play their due role in eradicating the virus.
He said, emergency campaigns are also being conducted in the district because a polio case was surfaced in Dedal Kamach area of Shangla, while five other in nighbour district Torghar.
He said, administrating polio drops to children under age of 5 is a sole solution of eradicating the virus from the country.
“The polio eradication is not easy job, Education, forest, police and other departments also playing a key role in the drives, I must appreciate all the people continued round the clock efforts for the cause,” DHO added.
The DHO urged the common public to cooperate with the polio teams during the campaigns and let them to vaccinate your children under age of five, which would secure their future and save from for life disability.
ADC, Maqbool Hussain, said, rewarding the polio workers was meant to encourage and motivate them and they could more strengthen their efforts and other workers would also start struggles to compete them.
He said, competition environment would help them a lot by making them passionate towards the duty.
