SHANGLA: Teachers of private and government educational institutions have observed black day in Shangla here on Tuesday, thousands of teachers and civil society members blocked the Karakoram Highway for four hours by staging protest against murder of district education officer Kolai Pallas Kohistan in his office in Pallas.
The core committee of teachers formed after the murder of DEO Nawab Ali, called protest demonstration and a black day to observe on Tuesday across the district.
Teachers from every corner of the district reached Bisham government high School Butyal from where they took out a massive rally while carrying banners, placards inscribed with the demands of justice to the assassinated education official.
All government and private schools were remained closed in view of black day, however, the high school students took part in the protest.
While addressing the protesters, Sharafat Ali, the committee member, said that it was not murder of the Nawab Ali but murder of thousands of teachers and millions of students.
He said the poor investigation of the case and slow progress of the JIT has forced them to come onto roads but unless the police did not arrest the culprits and involved people in the case the protests will be continued across the district.
Shahid Ahmed, a senior educationist, said that teachers in the all government school would boycott from the classes daily for two hours in protest against the DEO’s murder.
Shaukat Ali, cousin of the slain DEO, claimed that suspects involved in the Nawab Ali’s murder holds meetings in Peshawar and Pallas but police are reluctant to arrest them even from putting their names in the FIR.
He said, they are not satisfied with the Mansehra SDPO leading JIT and wanted to form a judicial investigation team to investigate this high profile case.
Sultan Sikandar, the committee chairman, said while presenting the charter of demand, Transfer all the Shangla residents appointed in Kolai Pallas Kohistan offices to Shangla because they feel insecure there, immediately close all the offices of the Kolai Pallas Kohistan run in Bisham.
He also demanded to include Shangla police officials in the JIT and government must take it special case, also rename Government Centennial Model High School Chakesar on Shaheed Nawab Ali.
The committee chairman also demanded to aware Sitara Imtiaz to assassinated DEO Nawab Ali also rename the Swat University Campus as Nawab Ali Shaheed university.
He also demanded to take the power of recruitment on the MPA recommendations and government also provide security to all district education officials of the province.
Jehan Didar, president, private schools association Shangla, demanded to end the status of district Kolai Pallas Kohistan as they do not deserve of the district and take the officers lives.
He also urged the Shangla political leaders to hold a Multiparty conference in this regard and hold meeting with the high authorities for justice to Nawab Ali.
The KKH was remained blocked for four hours and hundreds of motorists on both side of KKH and Bisham-Swat road were stuck and faced severe hardships due to blockade of road.
The protesters dispersed the protest peacefully and give a deadline to the government particularly police till October, 18 to arrest the culprits.
