Link roads in Shangla blocked for fourth day

SHANGLA: The most parts of Shangla district including Bisham city’s link roads remained blocked for third consecutive day on Tuesday after massive landslide at various points on the link roads of the district which has disturbed the routine life in the area.

The link roads in almost all tehsils of the district Shangla including Bisham city’s adjacent areas were blocked in several points and pedestrian routes were also damaged after heavy rainfall and landsliding and electricity was also disrupted and restored after two days.

Muhammad Umar, a local labour who daily come to Bisham from Khatak Sar for work, told that the Khatak Sar, Khait, Mol Sar roads had been blocked in over 30 points and rubles were still laying on the roads due to which he had to come on foot to reach for work.

He claimed that he never seen such rainfall and its devastation in his life which even not left the pedestrian paths in his village and neighbourhoods, however, local people had started to restore the paths on self help basis.

Muhammad Saleem, a driver, said his pickup was stranded on the way of Khatak Sar because the Khatak Sar road was blocked over dozen places and in some places even today on Tuesday the boulders were falling on the road near Bisham police station.

He said the government machines yet to be arrived to remove the debris from the road due to which his including his pickup 5-6 vehicles stranded in the different locations on the Khatak Sar road, while locals were also facing severe problems.

Rahat Ali, Damorai, Shangla, said link roads leads to different villages in his area were blocked in several points but despite the passage of three days the administration did not move to start work on the rehabilitation work.

He said the blockade of roads had forced the local people to reach their destinations on hours foot walk also the women and patients.

Amir Ali, a local of Shang Bisham, said the Frontier Works Ogranisation FWO cleared only the KKH for a single track and dumped the ruble in one side due to which the local people of nearby houses faced difficulties particularly the school going children.

He said similarly, the contractor organisation also dumped sliding debris at end point of Khatak Sar road in Bisham city which also causing problems to the local people.

The local people, however, demanded of the district administration to send machines for clearance of roads and open them for traffic to ease the public lives who were suffering due to the road blockades.
