SHANGLA: Hailstorm coupled with rain destroyed standing crops and orchards in Martung, Makhozi and Puran tehsils on Tuesday, but it turned weather cold.

The rain and hailstorm started in the afternoon and continued for two hours, flattening wheat crop and orchards across the district.

Farmers in Puran said frequent rainfall and hailstorm had damaged the wheat crop, which would adversely affect the yield.

Farmer Ali Jaan said around 70 per cent of his wheat crop had been damaged by the hailstorm. He said the agriculture department never supported them in protecting their crops and orchards from adverse weather conditions.
