The residents insisted that the contractors delayed work on the road deliberately.

The two kilometers road is meant to connect Kerai, Khatak Sar and Mol Sar with other parts of the district.

“Whenever it rains, water enters my house due to the bad condition of the road as the contractor has patched some of its parts by removing concrete,” resident Israr Ali said.

He said rainwater brought rubles to his house yesterday damaging goods.

Resident Ashiq Hussain said the bad condition of the road had caused traffic accidents causing losses to vehicle owners.

“When we ask the contractor about the road’s condition, he blames it on faulty machines. We want the early construction of the road to our relief as we’ve suffered a lot in the last four years because of it,” he said.

Driver Umar Sadiq said he used the road daily and his vehicle often broke down on it, while its parts were damaged.

The residents demanded of the authorities and information minister Shaukat Yousafzai to ask the contractor to ensure speedy work on the road and use of quality material.
