Clash between FC and local laborers in Kohistan; 5 Injured

SHANGLA: Five local labourers were injured in a clash between Frontier Core personals and local labourer at the under-construction 4500 Megawatt Dassu Hydropower Project site at Logro area of Upper Kohistan.
Upper Kohistan deputy commissioner, Arif Khan Yousafzai, told The Northern Post that one of the tribe namely Ashi Khel had stopped the labourer from the other tribes from working at the project at Logro area and Chinese officials had frequently requested them to allow the workers to start work but they were reluctant.
“Some of them had assaulted one of the frontier core FC personal which lead to a clash because the local Ashi Khel tribe members had occupied the FC quarters,” DC Said.
Mr Yousafzai, said four local men were injured due to throwing stones at each others and one was injured in a straight fire from the FC side who had been shifted to the Ayoub Medical Complex Abottabad.
He said the situation now at the site had been controlled and he along the police officials present and local elders had also played a key role in dispursing the people from the area.
A local Alam Zeeb said the FC men had opened straight fire at the public which resulted injuring of several laborer who were demanding jobs in the project.
A video available with Dawn.com shows that FC personals straightaway firing at the public and also using abusive language for the local people.
DC Arif Yousafzai told that inquiry was being initiated in the incident committee would be formed under the supervision of ADC Upper Kohistan and Cases were also being registered against those involved in the incident.
The injured were shifted to the Rural Health Center RHC Dassu and locals planed to stage protest at Komila, Upper Kohistan.
MEANWHILE, The local people blocked the Karakoram Highway at Shetyal in Upper Kohistan protesting against the FC for attacking on the local labors.
