Anti-polio campaign to commence from Monday

SHANGLA: A five days anti-polio campaign is commencing from Monday, September, 21 across the Shangla district after seven months of a break due to covid-19 pandemic, micro census is also be conducted in the district.
The anti-polio drive launched by the deputy commissioner, Shangla, Imran Hussain Ranjha here at Shahpur, in Kana tehsil on Friday. The coordinator on the extended program on immunization, Doctor Wajid Ali and others were also present on the occasion.
The DC Shangla has administered oral polio drop to a child during a meeting with local people in Shahpur while launching the drive in the district.
Dr Wajid Ali, EPI coordinator, said that preparations for the drive had been finalised, 894 teams would take part in the drive to visit door to door and vaccinate children also at transit and fixed points.
He said, 278 area supervisors were also going to supervise the five days campaign and 60 union council based supervisors to make sure administering polio drops to every targeted child.
EPI coordinator said that teams would visit 84639 houses, madrasas and schools to vaccinate 179329 targeted children during the campaign.
He said, this time the teams would also conduct a micro census of collecting the data of from birth to five years of age children.
He said, over 300 lady health workers in teams and around 1000 police personals were being engaged in the drive on the reams security.
