Kohat: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) held an awareness seminar on sales tax on services and withholding regulations for withholding agents in Kohat.
The seminar was arranged by the KPRA South Region for the awareness and training of public and private sector withholding agents on registration with KPRA, its return filing and the new Withholding Regulations 2020.
Accountants, Drawing and Disbursing Officers and Officials of finance and accounts sections of various government and private entities participated in the seminar.
KPRA Assistant Collector South Abdul Wahab gave a detailed presentation on Registration, Returns Filing and Withholding of taxes from the service providers. They were given demonstrations of how to calculate and withhold tax from the service providers.
KPRA Additional Collector South Region Imran Khan, Deputy Director Communications Aftab Ahmad answered the queries of the participants and assured them complete support to ease their work and make the processes simple for them.
“Success of sales tax on services is crucial for the economic future of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and for that we need your support and cooperation,” said Muhammad Imran adding that KPRA will continue to hold such training sessions and awareness seminars in future.
KPRA Deputy Director Communication Aftab Ahmad while responding to questions of the participants said that sales tax on services is charged as per the provincial government’s legislation and no one is exempted from sales tax on services if he/she is providing taxable services. “You have to make sure that you are withholding the tax for the government as per the government rates. The tax money is spent on public uplift schemes and a financially strong government will serve its public better,” he said.
The participants appreciated the efforts of the KPRA South Region for conducting the seminar and giving them opportunity to ask their queries. “We had a few questions and ambiguities which were addressed in the seminar,” said Regional Information Officer Kohat Mr Sarwar Khattak who was among the participants of the seminar. They assured complete support and cooperation with the KPRA for the development and prosperity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
