8 more houses damaged in rain related incidents in Shangla

Eight houses were destroyed, 37 cattle perished, and a car was swept away in the flash floods and landslides in various parts of Shangla district.

8 more houses were damaged, 37 cattle perished, and a car was swept away in the rain-related incidents in various parts of Shangla district on Saturday night. Two bodies of the 7 missing were recovered from the Indus River.

Deputy Commissioner, Shangla, Muhammad Fawad Khan, in a statement, said that Yakhtangay, Drad and Kana tehsil areas were hit by flash floods and landslides.
He said eight houses had collapsed in three different villages. However, no human losses were reported.
DC Shangla said 37 cattle also perished in the landslide in the Olandar Takai area of the Kana tehsil.
According to the data obtained from the district administration, Shangla, a car was also swept away by the floods in the Yakhtangay area. However, the car driver remained safe in the incident.
Rasool Khan Sharif, spokesperson for the Rescue 1122, Shangla, told the northern post that two bodies, including a woman, were recovered from the river Indus, which washed away in the flooding from the Shati dara area of Puran tehsil on August 15.
He said the dead bodies were brought from the Indus River and handed over to their families after an identification procedure.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that the search operation for the remaining five persons had been continuing in the affected areas despite heavy rain, and their teams were present at the spots.
Heavy rain coupled with thunderstorms continued to lash across the district for the second consecutive day, which has also disrupted the electricity supply in the district several parts.
Shangla administration has reported 36 deaths, 29 injuries, 124 fully damaged houses, 120 partially damaged, and 238 cattle perished so far in the district.
It said in the report that rehabilitation work was also underway in the district, all union councils, and relief activities.
The report said that 2815 relief packages had been distributed among the affected families and 233 tents for their shelter.
