3 Days Kailash Ice and Snow Festival attracts tourists despite chilly weather

CHITRAL: Three days Kailash Ice and Snow Festival concluded in Bomburit Valley. Locals as well as domestic and foreign tourists enjoyed this winter sports tournament. More than two hundred boys and girls were also trained in the snow skiing and other snow sports in this Kailash Snow Sports Festival. The people of the area termed it very useful for the development of winter tourism.

According to the details, the Kailash Ice and Snow Festival organized by the Hindukush Snow Sports Club, was held in Kailash Bomburit Valley, which was concluded after three days. In the Kailash Ice and Snow Festival, more than two hundred boys and girls were also trained in snow sports and participated in winter sports. Prince Muhammad Hishamul Mulk, president of Hindukush Snow Sports Club, thanked all the government and non-government organizations for the support of which this festival was successfully conducted. He says that it will promote winter tourism in this backward area. He further said that SRSP, District Administration, TMA Chitral, ARSP, Global Affairs Canada, etc. cooperated with him in organizing this winter sports festival. Ice hockey, snow skiing, kabaddi, and one-legged races competition were also held during the festival. Both boys and girls participated in these games.

Boys and girls from the Upper Chitral district also participated in this winter sports festival and enjoyed it a lot. These girls and boys say that for the first time, we got a chance to ski from top to bottom on the snow field in snow skiing, from which we learned a lot.

PPAF, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund Chief Operating Officer, Nader Gul Barich expressed his wish while participating in it. He said that organizing such festivals and snow sports tournaments in winter will promote winter tourism in this backward area, which will also provide employment opportunities to people and will have a positive impact on their economy.

Officials of the district administration assured that in the coming years, this winter sports festival will be celebrated in a more organized and better manner. Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Lower Chitral and Additional Assistant Commissioner also took over the administrative affairs. We will celebrate in a better way.

According to the regional organizers, winter sports will promote tourism in the Kailash Valley even in the winter season. They say that due to the severe cold weather in winter, neither tourists come here nor the business of local people running best, but the local people also remain bestowed in their houses. This kind of sport, on one hand, get an opportunity to relieve boredom and enjoy themselves, on the other hand, it also improves the business of the local people as tourists come here and stay in hotels as well as shopkeepers purchase local products.

District Sports Officer Lower Chitral described these games as very useful for local sportsmen and youth. He says that when people sit idle at home and suffer from boredom due to cold, their health is also threatened. However, when they engage in sports and positive activities, they do not get sick and remain physically fit and healthy.
