KP flood death toll reaches 365; search operations ongoing

365 people have lost their lives, and 181 have been injured due to related accidents.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a report detailing the impact of recent rains and flash floods in various districts of the province. So far, 365 people have lost their lives, and 181 have been injured due to related accidents.

The PDMA says the fatalities include 294 men, 41 women, and 30 children, while the injured consist of 144 men, 27 women, and 10 children. The report also indicates that a total of 782 houses have been damaged by the flooding. Of these, 433 homes were partially destroyed, and 349 were completely destroyed.

In the flood-affected Buner district, 225 individuals have been displaced. The accidents occurred in several districts, including Swat, Buner, Bajaur, Mansehra, Shangla, Lower Dir, Battagram, and Swabi.

Heavy rains are forecasted from August 17 to 19, with intermittent rainfall expected to continue until August 21. The PDMA has directed the administrations of the affected districts to accelerate relief efforts and provide immediate assistance to victims.

The PDMA’s Emergency Operation Centre is fully operational. The public can reach out to the free helpline at 1700 for any emergencies, weather updates, or additional information.
