Xiaomi Redmi A5 launch in Pakistan with premium features

Priced at just Rs. 22,999, the new entry-level smartphone offers a 120Hz screen, long-lasting battery, and Android 15 Go Edition

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi A5 in Pakistan, bringing an affordable yet capable smartphone that punches above its price tag. With a sleek design—especially in the eye-catching Sandy Gold variant—the phone balances style and functionality, making it a strong contender in the budget segment. The highlight is its 6.78-inch IPS LCD display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, a rare feature at this price point, ensuring fluid scrolling and a better viewing experience despite its 720p resolution.

Under the hood, the Redmi A5 is powered by the Unisoc T7250 chipset (or Snapdragon 425 in some variants) paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of expandable storage. While it won’t handle heavy gaming, it’s more than capable for everyday tasks like social media, streaming, and light multitasking. Running Android 15 Go Edition with Xiaomi’s HyperOS, the phone promises optimized performance and two years of OS updates, extending its lifespan—a notable perk for a device this affordable.

Battery life is where the Redmi A5 truly shines. The 5,200mAh (or 5,500mAh in certain models) battery easily lasts a full day, and Xiaomi claims it can endure up to 1,000 charge cycles while maintaining health. The downside? Charging maxes out at 15W, so a full recharge takes about two hours. Still, for users prioritizing longevity over speed, it’s a fair trade-off.

Camera performance is decent for the price, with a 32MP (or 50MP, depending on the variant) main rear sensor and an upgraded 8MP front camera for selfies. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner and AI face unlock add convenience, while the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack will please wired audio fans.

Priced at Rs. 22,999 for the 4GB/64GB model and Rs. 26,999 for the 4GB/128GB version, the Redmi A5 is widely available in Pakistan, including online retailers and physical stores across Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. With color options like Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, and Lake Green, Xiaomi is clearly targeting style-conscious buyers on a budget.

For students, first-time smartphone users, or anyone needing a reliable daily driver without splurging, the Redmi A5 delivers where it counts—smooth performance, a vibrant display, and battery life that won’t quit. While it won’t replace a flagship, it’s a smart choice for those watching their wallets.
