Walnut Bark smuggling bid foiled

SHANGLA: Police and forest department in a joint action recovered 808 Kilogram walnut bark from a container in the limits of Dandai police station and arrested the driver here on Sunday.

A statement issued by the police on Sunday said that during the routine mobile visit station house officer, Dandai, Muhammad Afzal Khan had received information about the illegal smuggling of Walnut Bark from Maira to Faisal Abad and following the tip-of SHO intercepted the heavy vehicle registration number RIS-2681 and upon search, they found 808 kilogram of Walnut Bark.

It said police then informed the forest department officials who joined them led by the sub-divisional forest officer, Zahid Hussain.

According to the statement, forest officials measured the Walnut bark weight and seized the million worth of illegal Walnut bark by the forest officials and begun further interrogation.

Zahid Hussain, SDFO Karora circle, said that the suspect Muhammad Yasin was hailing from Faisal Abad Punjab, who would be produced before local magistrate today on Monday.
