SHANGLA: Position holders students who had obtained good marks in SSC and HSSC exmainations received laptops and cash prizes under Rokhana Shangla program of the district council Shangla here in a biggest event held on Sunday at Alpuri.
The laptops and cash prizes distribution ceremony was organized by the district education department here at government centennial model high School, Alpuri. Where district nazim Shangla, Niaz Ahmed Khan was the chief guest, while district education officers, Muhammad Ameen and recently transferred DEO, Parveen Rehman, district councilors, officials of the education department, parents of the students and social activists attended the ceremony.
“I am so happy about receiving a laptop and cash prize of Rs 300,000 as a reward for my struggles and preparations for examinations. It was results of parent’s prayers and hard work of mine and teachers with us,” Tammana Bibi of grade 10, said.
She said the reward of hard work has increased her passion towards study and next year she would again get a position in intermediate examination.
Alia bibi, the 2nd-year student, said, she was so enthusiastic about this program and got a laptop, which was her dream because computer is nowadays a best tool for study and getting information.
“I am grateful to my parents, teachers for permitting me to get education on my own well, today’s award, and laptop credits directly goes to both my parents and my spiritual parents (teachers) because they made me proud today,” Fatima, matric student of GGHSS, Chakesar, said.
Safia Nawab, a grade 12 student, of GGHS ,Lilonai, said that she wanted to become a doctor and hard work can never spoil one day you get reward of that, so today is a special day for her.
“I would like to request all parents of my this back district Shangla to allow your girls children to receive education and make you proud like us today we got laptop, cash prizes, certificates, shields for best performance in education,” She suggested.
Nisar Ahmed, who had topped board of intermediate and secondary education in recent grade 9th examinations, said, he belonged to a poor family in Puran and his father is a daily wager, but he did hard work and got position.
“I was not expecting such rewards and the best one is scholarship on which I will get admission in a good college for keeping continue further study and will use laptop as source of searching education stuff related to my education,” He said.
DEO, Muhammad Ameen, congratulated the students and urge the other students to concentrate on their studies because in next program you can also get laptop and cash prize.
Shahid Ahmed, member of the selection committee, said, that it was a hectic job to arrange this event and select the position holders, they gave laptops and cash prizes very transparently and distributed and deserving students.
District nazim, Niaz Ahmed Khan, said, while speaking the ceremony that despite all hurdles created by the provincial government, the district government Shangla fulfilled its promise by giving laptops, cash prizes, shields, scholarships to positions holders both private and government schools.
He said, since he had taken the oath, he kept education on his first priority and initiated major projects in the district and Rokhana Shangla was one of them by spending 77 per cent of the budget on education.
“Today we gave laptops, cash prizes of Rs 150,000 to Rs 300,000 each student under the Rokhana Shangla program of 2018-19 position holders students for their outstanding performance,” He said.
He wished that next tehsil or district council could continue this special program which he initiated first in the province.
