Shangla locals to build bridge on self help basis

SHANGLA: A local jirga at Faiz Dara area of Kana tehsil in Shangla have decided to collect Rs 2000 per household to construct a jeepable bridge over Kana river because the makeshift bridge was crucial for the people to facilitate their travel.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting with an elder Mohammad Saleem Khan in the chair on Friday.

Local notables from surrounding villages attended the Jirga and highlighted the core issues of the area.

They said that a suspension bridge which was connecting Faiz Dara with the rest of other parts of the district reconstructed but used sub-standard material, however, now a road has been constructed to the area but that is unusable without jeepable bridge over the river.

The notables claimed that they were assured by MPA of the constituency Mr Shaukat Yousafzai but yet he moved for taking practical steps for the bridge establishment.

Sher Ali, Sadiqullah, Saeedullah, Abdul Kabir and others pointed out that they have to struggles for approaching government for the uplift of the area.

They decided on the occasion that Rs 2000 to be collected from each household to get build a jeepable bridge over the river and repair the road with cement.

A committee was also constituted on the occasion for further steps in this regards.
