Battagram district prepares for Anti-Polio Vaccination Drive, the district is gearing up for a comprehensive anti-polio vaccination drive, aiming to immunize 103,537 children under the age of five. The campaign, scheduled to commence on February 3, will involve 504 polio teams, including 436 mobile, 45 fixed, 14 transit, and 9 roaming teams, visiting houses to vaccinate children.
A meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall to finalize the preparations for the campaign. The meeting was attended by key officials, including EPI District Coordinator Dr. Ghulam Ishaq, DPO Muhammad Ayaz, AC Muhammad Saleem, DHO Dr. Zakir Hussain, WHO representatives, and other department heads.
Dr. Ghulam Ishaq presented an overview of the campaign, highlighting the importance of vaccinating all children under five. He emphasized that multiple doses of the polio vaccine are required for a child to be fully protected against the disease.

DHO Dr. Zakir Hussain assured the attendees that the polio vaccine is safe, efficacious, and approved by the government’s drug regulatory authorities. He stressed that parents who do not ensure vaccination put their children’s health and lives at risk, as well as others around them.
Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Khan urged the line departments to maintain close coordination and provide full-proof security to frontline workers. He emphasized the need for all departments to utilize their resources effectively to ensure that not a single child remains unvaccinated.
The anti-polio vaccination drive is a critical component of the government’s efforts to eradicate polio from the country. The campaign in Battagram district is expected to contribute significantly to this goal, and the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure its success.
The people of Battagram district have historically cooperated with health staff during polio vaccination campaigns. However, in case of any refusal, the monitoring team will address the issue promptly.
