Operation theater of THQ hospital Bisham made functional after two decade

SHANGLA: Operation Theater in the tehsil headquarters hospital in Bisham Shangla district has been made functional after two decade of closure, two surgeries done by the doctor in the hospital here on Thursday.

It was said medical superintendent of the THQ hospital Bisham Doctor Mansoor Ahmed Khan here on Thursday, after successful surgeries done in the hospital after long time.

He said it was their self efforts, especially he himself and DMS Doctor Hafiz Sanaullah who work round the clock to make it functional because it was essential for the region major hospital.

“THQ hospital Bisham is being visited by the patients from district Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram areas for treatment but due to non-functionality of the operation theater for long, the patients faced hardships and they were referred to hospitals in out districts,” Mr Khan said

Dr Sanaullah told Dawn on the occasion that they have spent about Rs 200,000 from their own pocket and formally launched the services at the government hospital just for the sack of poor masses of the area.

He said Surgeon Doctor Javed Iqbal with supporting staff performed two major operations Hernia and Cholecystectomy first time in the history hospital, while the OT was made functional on self help basis.

He added that they are also thankful to district health officer Muhammad Riaz for his support and permission.

In a reply to a question he said that all sort of surgeries would be dealt the surgeon dr Javed Iqbal and they will no more refer the patients to other far away hospitals.
