The Jamiat-I-Islam Fazal district emir, Qari Zainullah has said that the district administration’s instruction to Madrasas for registration with religious affairs is illegal and unacceptable to them.
The JUI-F district Shangla chapter leader issued this statement in response to the tehsil administration, Chakesar issued notices to seminaries, urging them to register their Madrasas with the directorate general for religious education within seven days.
The Assistant Commissioner, Chakesar, Shah Nawaz Khan issued a notice in which a copy is available with The Northern Post, noted a reference number 1548-53, and sent a letter by the deputy commissioner, Shangla.
“The Madrasa Muhatamim is being requested to register your respective Seminary with the directorate general for religious education DGRU within seven days of receiving this letter,” AC notice copy reads.
The AC Chakesar order also instructed the seminaries to submit legal documents for running the Madrasa in his office.
JUI-F leader said that AC Chakesar had issued notices to all seminaries of the tehsil but he did not know the rules and registration of Madrasas.
“The union of Madrasas has reservations on the proposed bill of the government for seminaries and we oppose it but till now there are no such rules, or policy to register seminaries with DGRU,” Zainullah said.
He said taking this issue in Shangla at this time was beyond his understanding, therefore the deputy commissioner should be careful in such a sensitive issue.
JUI-F leader said Madrasas were inter-connected across the country and DC Shangla should avoid such steps before sparking the issue countrywide.
He said these Madrasas were registered with their respective boards and abide by the rules set for them and they would comply only with their five boards operating in the country.
Mr Zainullah warned the Shangla administration to avoid issuing royal orders to seminaries and instead reach out to their boards.
Deputy commissioner, of Shangla, Mohammad Fawad Khan when contacted told this scribe that there are a total of 184 Seminaries in the Shangla district, of which 38 were unregistered.
He added that the government had recently issued guidelines and sought to get their Madrasas registered with DGRE as soon as possible.
DC Shangla further said that this step was taken because of the Solarization project to be implemented in Madrasas across the KP for which registration was essential.
