At least six people, including four children were killed and 8 injured as Heavy downpour coupled with windstorm battered northern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Karakoram Highway was blocked at multiple locations, however efforts underway to reopen the international route.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa disaster management, Authority, PDMA official, said that according to the preliminary report of rain related incidents, five children were killed and 8 injured.
A report shared by PDMA with Dawn.com says that Shangla district was mostly affected in the disaster, where four children died and three injured.
It said two children and a woman were died at Kharyan Nawagai area of Bajaur district and two were injured.
The report said the roofs and walls collapse and other rain related incidents occurred in parts of Peshawar, Shangla, Bajaur and Nowshera.
Rasool Khan Sharif, spokesperson at Rescue 1122, Shangla, told The Northern Post that two people were killed and a girl was injured as a result of house collapse at Banda China area of Alpuri, Shangla.
He said two children were swept away by the flash floods after lightning on Friday.
PDMA official said that the concerns for the emergency operations had been directed to expedite the relief activities in the affected districts.
