Tourists complain of frozen Yakhtangay road

SHANGLA: Commuters and tourists in Shangla have complained about frozen road of Yakhtangay which leads to Puran and it turned extremely dangour for commuters and tourists.
Tourists and local commuters told The Northern Post here on Tuesday that after the recent snowfall received in the tourist spot Yakhtangay which is also main road connecting tehsil Puran, tehsil Martung and tehsil Makhozi with rest of other parts of Shangla but it has been became risky for travel as it was frozen due to low temperature in the area.
“We came from Lahore from witnessing snowfall but could not reach to snow as our vehicle could go there on the iced road for snow chains are must otherwise travel on this frozen road is life threat,” Said Asad Ali, a tourist from Lahore told The Northern Post.
He said they were in a group and maybe go to Swat or Muree for witnessing snow and enjoyment as it is his dream since his childhood.
Jameel Khan, another tourist said the Yakhtangay road was dangour and slippery for walk and he and his friends fell on it many times when they were walking on it when they tried to reach the snow by walking but failed in mission.
He said the area is attractive, calm and charm but could not see any role of the government neither there was any force for help of tourist nor guides, hence administration of the district should keep the roads clean from the ice.
Riaz Khan, a local commuter said that about four to five traffic accidents have been occurred at Yakhtangay so far in which several people were wounded due to bad condition iced road.
He said most of public transporters used snow chains while traveling in Yakhtangay because vehicles without snow chains around their tyres cannot drive.
Abas Khan, another local said in Muree and Swat the administration keeps roads clean from ice and snow, so that tourists and local commuters could easily reach to their destinations without any inconvenience.
“We have not been seen function of the district administration and tourism department for Yakhtangay as we faced severe problems due to road condition in the entire winter season,” He said.
They demanded of the district administration to at least make sure the road clean from ice and snow in the winter for the public convenience and keeping their lives safe.
