The residents of Puran and Martung tehsil have demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to reconstruct the main Board to Puran road bad condition was causing problems for the commuters as its stretch of 5 kilometer within tourist hotspot Yakhtangay is extremely dilapidated and lack of fencing causing traffic accidents.
The Puran and Martung tehsil residents told reporters on Monday that the main road links Puran and Martung tehsil with the rest of the district particularly with the district headquarters, Alpuri had been in bad condition since long and causing problems for them when they travel via it.
They said the road becomes deathtrap in winter due to its dilapidated condition and slippery as water floating on it freezes and becomes a danger for travel and there was no fencing on its both sides for protection.
Sohail Khan, a resident of Puran said he used the main road for travel but the road had become danger for travel due to its condition as its 5 kilometer stretch within the tourist hotspot Yakhtangay area was Zigzag and up and downwards without fencing on both sides.
“I never seen MNA, MPAs and other elected people serious for this longstanding issue although they used like us the road regularly but maybe their vehicles are capable of traveling on any road,” He criticized.
Misbah Ihsas, a resident of Puran said the road condition from Board junction to Yakhtangay top was not fit for travel because it was not only risky for travel but vehicles develop faults everyday and they cannot afford anymore the maintenance in this inflation era.
He said it was the responsibility of the elected representatives to approve funds from the government and reconstruct the road and ease travel on it for the locals and tourists too.
Akbar Hussain, former district councilor from Martung said the main board to Yakhtangay top road becomes danger due to snowfall and its condition for which they requested the concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
Abdul Maula, tehsil chairman of ruling party in Puran, when contacted he told that he was aware that the main road was in severe dilapidated condition and accidents occur on it and recently a car fell into ravine due to its bad condition.
He said the provincial government was striving to allocate funds for it and a survey team of the Asian development bank also visited the road to reconstruct the road and he was hopeful that the provincial government would allocate funds for it soon.
The Chairman also promised that he would talk to the executive engineer of the communication and works department to repair the stretch more dilapidated and a threat for travelers.
