SHANGLA: The hospitals in the district face shortage of medical equipment including ventilators and temperature scanners that causes difficulties to doctors in providing care to Covid-19 patients, according to sources.
They said that there were no ventilators in any of the hospitals in the district owing to which doctors referred patients with coronavirus symptoms to Saidu Teaching Hospital in Swat.
They said that a suspected patient of Covid-19, who had come from Balochistan for preaching, was sent to hospital in Swat and his samples were sent to Islamabad for laboratory test.
Sources said quarantine centres were set up in different parts of the district but health workers had not equipment and facilities to take proper care of patients.
The first reported suspected coronavirus patient tested negative for the disease on Monday. The suspected patient was quarantined in the district headquarters hospital in Alpuri. Her samples had been sent to Islamabad for test. The result showed her negative for the disease.
