Shutter-down strike was observed across the country against inflation and taxes, bazaars were remained deserted on Saturday.
The shutter down strike was called by the Pakistan trade union across the country. Traders observed the shutter-down strike throughout the country and markets were remained deserted on Saturday. Similarly Traders in Shangla, Bisham, Puran, Shahpur, Damorai, Belkanai, Martung, Chakesar, Dandai, Makhozay, Alpuri, Bely Baba, Dehrai, Karora and other areas have observed historical strike against inflation and proposed taxes.
“We have observed a historical shutter down strike in Shangla history against inflation and proposed taxes being imposed on traders. The government is trying destroy our businesses and also public living bellow the poverty line,”Hayat Khan, Trade union president of Puran bazaar said.
He said inflation is now in out of control of the government, the premier has pushed the country into economic crises.
Trade union president in Bisham city, Master Hamid Ur Rehman says that Malakand division is a tax free zone since the Swat state but now the current government has decided to impose taxes on Malakand division masses.
“We are already badly affected by terrorism and natural disasters and imposition of taxes on us will not be more than a disaster for us. Instead developmental work in our destroyed region, the imposition of taxes and inflation is beyond my understand,” He said.
The shutter-down strike is being observed in all parts of Malakand and Hazara divisions. The strike against inflation and taxes was called by the Pakistan Trade Union.
The markets in Shangla, Battagram, Swat, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohistan and other areas of the province remained deserted.
Due to shutter-down strike, particularly medical stores people faced severe difficulties.
