Heavy rain, hailstorm lash Islamabad; Snowfall blankets parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad experienced heavy rain coupled with a hailstorm, causing a drop in temperature across the capital.

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi received heavy rainfall and hailstorms on Tuesday, while snowfall blanketed Kalam and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Heavy rainfall and a hailstorm hit the federal capital, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, dropping temperatures in the twin cities and nearby towns.

According to locals, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kalam, Swat, Shangla, Naran, and Kaghan also received snowfall, while the plain areas experienced rainfall.

Residents of the twin cities and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed relief from the recent heatwave, which had led to several seasonal illnesses.

Meanwhile, a passenger lost his life and several others were injured when a tree fell on the passenger coach in the Lower Dir area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that the tree fell on the coach on the main road due to heavy rain.

He said the injured and dead were rushed to the nearby hospital.

The Rescue 1122 Lower Dir team arrived at the scene and, with the help of residents, evacuated the affected passengers, provided first aid, and shifted the injured to the hospital by ambulance.

The Disaster and Recovery Team later removed the fallen tree and reopened the road for all types of traffic.
