NADRA restores Arshad Chaiwala NIC on court orders

NADRA verifies family record, accepts Pakistani citizenship; identity card was blocked since 2017 over false Afghan nationality claim

The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench on Monday issued the orders to release the National Identity Card (CNIC) of Arshad Chaiwala, after which NADRA activated his card.

Lawyer of Arshad Khan, Umar Ejaz Gillani, has informed the court, headed by Justice Jawad Hassan, that NADRA has made no objection after full validation of his client’s family record and accepted his Pakistani citizenship.

It is worth mentioning that Arshad Khan’s Identity Card and passport were blocked after a media report in 2017 in which he was declared to be has Afghan citizen. After this decision, Arshad Khan will be able to travel internationally and also run his international brand “Arshad ChaiWala cafe”.

Arshad Khan has expressed satisfaction with this decision and said, “I am thankful to Lahore High Court, Lawyer Umar Gillani, and NADRA that they ensured justice in my case”.

This decision came out when a large number of controversial and undocumented citizenship cases had emerged in Pakistan.
