Gilgit Police have arrested three police officers from Sargodha on charges of looting tourists. The action was taken following a complaint filed by affected tourists, who accused the officers of forcibly searching them at Kalma Chowk, physically assaulting them, and stealing over 50,000 rupees in cash along with valuable belongings.
According to the complaint, the incident involved tourists traveling from Karachi to Gilgit to visit their relatives. The accused officers allegedly abandoned the tourists late at night on Hospital Road after the alleged robbery.
Police officials confirmed that an investigation has been launched against the arrested officers. They stated that if the allegations are proven, strict legal action will be taken. The police emphasized that the safety of tourists is their top priority and such incidents will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
