3 killed, 24 injured in road accidents and firing during Eid

Three people were killed, and 23 others were injured in road accidents on the second and third days of Eid

Three people lost their lives, and 24 others sustained injuries in separate road accidents and firing incidents across the Lower Dir district during the first three days of Eid, official sources reported. A police officer, identified as Sajjad, was injured when unidentified attackers opened fire on him within the jurisdiction of Munda police station on the second day of Eid. District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kulachi visited the injured officer at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Timergara. He extended his best wishes for Sajjad’s speedy recovery and directed hospital authorities to provide him with the best possible medical care. The DPO assured that those responsible for the attack would be arrested soon and brought to justice. Later, the injured officer was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar, where his condition was reported to be stable.

Meanwhile, three people were killed, and 23 others were injured in road accidents on the second and third days of Eid. According to sources, a double-seater vehicle plunged into a ditch at Chinar Kot in Maidan, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to twelve others, including women and children. Rescue 1122 teams, along with ambulances and disaster response units, arrived at the scene, provided first aid, and transported the injured to Lal Qila Hospital. The injured included 5-year-old Fahad, 28-year-old Shoaib, 8-year-old Zaid, 6-year-old Tariq, 10-year-old Haris, 11-year-old G, 10-year-old F, 11-year-old H, 33-year-old G, and 11-year-old Z. The deceased were identified as 11-year-old Abu Hurrain and the wife of Sher Zaman. The ill-fated vehicle was en route from Kumbar Maidan to Taran village.

In another incident near the Teri area on the Timergara-Bajaur Bypass, a collision between a coaster and a motorcycle left six people injured. Separately, a car overturned due to speeding in Munda Rahim Abad, injuring several passengers. All the injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital Timergara by Rescue 1122 teams. Furthermore, a youth identified as Muhammad Yasin, son of Bashir and a resident of Shamlai, lost his life when a rickshaw plunged into a deep gorge in Shamlai, within the jurisdiction of Chakdara police station. Four others sustained injuries in the accident. The deceased and injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Chakdara.

Rescue 1122 responded to 79 emergencies during Eid, providing rescue facilities to 74 injured individuals and patients. A spokesman stated on Thursday that rescue services were deployed in 36 medical emergencies, 08 road traffic accidents, 04 fire incidents, and 04 other incidents during Eid-ul-Fitr. Under the ambulance referral service, 27 patients referred by doctors were shifted to various hospitals within and outside the district under the supervision of trained Rescue 1122 staff. The Rescue 1122 control room received 789 calls on the occasion of Eid, most of which were unnecessary or fake.
