Shangla people protest recent terrorist attacks

Residents of tehsil Chakesar and tehsil Puran staged a protest on Friday, blocking main roads in their respective tehsil headquarters. The protest was sparked by recent terror attacks on police checkposts in the district, resulting in the deaths and injuries of policemen. The Jamat-I-Islami Shangla chapter called for the protest, which drew participants from various areas who shouted slogans advocating for peace and the elimination of terrorism.

Sayed Ghafar Khan, a senior leader of Jamat-I-Islami Shangla, led a rally in Aloch, Puran, while Sher Alam Khan, a former candidate for PK-30, led a rally in tehsil Chakesar. Sher Alam Khan addressed the rally, highlighting the loss of two policemen in a December attack on the Gunangar checkpost, as well as the injury of three others. He emphasized the need for practical measures to combat terrorism.

Khan also pointed out that local residents had donated land for police checkposts to ensure their safety, but unfortunately, the police themselves were not secure from terrorist attacks. He conveyed a message to terrorists, warning them to avoid attacking the area or face elimination.

The protesters demanded the transfer of the district police officer, citing a surge in terrorist attacks since the current DPO took charge. They also expressed concern over the treatment of injured policemen, highlighting an incident where a police constable was asked to pay Rs. 6,000 for ambulance services to a hospital in Peshawar. The protest concluded peacefully, with participants dispersing after recording their grievances.
