Chakesar valley hosted a historic Peace Festival on January 8, promoting peace, cultural unity, and community harmony. A group of dedicated university students organised the festival celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage.
The eight-hour event, which commenced at 2 PM, featured an array of engaging stalls, including food, tea, books, career counseling, and minority culture displays. A dedicated children’s area kept the younger attendees entertained throughout.
A notable highlight of the festival was the Sikh community’s stall, which offered a glimpse into their rich cultural traditions. The stall featured traditional Sikh delicacies, including their renowned halwa, and provided an opportunity for visitors to learn about Sikh customs.
A meticulously designed Hujra showcased traditional Pashtoon culture, adorned with customary artifacts and offering attendees a nostalgic journey into Pashtun traditions. The festival also featured impactful speeches and poetry, emphasizing Chakesar’s historical significance and the importance of peace in building a cohesive community.

As dusk fell, the festival transitioned into an enchanting evening program, featuring a bonfire and lively musical event. The combination of traditional melodies and modern beats created an electrifying atmosphere, captivating the audience.
Local police ensured a safe and peaceful environment throughout the event. Speaking to reporters, an organizer shared their vision: “The Aman Mela is just the beginning. We aim to foster a culture of peace and unity, and we’re committed to organizing more such events in the future.”
