Police personals deployed for tourist facilitation in Shangla

SHANGLA: The district Shangla police have deployed police personals at various snowy points for tourists facilitation in view of visiting tourists in droves after the recent heavy snowfall.

It was stated sub-divisional police officer SDPO, Amjad Ali, who was appointed as supervisor told Dawn on Monday that in view of circumstances and focus of tourists the district police officer Shangla Sayed Rasool Shah has ordered deployment of police personals on snowy roads at various place of the district for the tourists facilitation.

“As Shangla tourism getting popularity and tourists from all over the country have been visiting the district different parts these days to witness the snowfall and enjoy some moments of their life but they faced difficulties while visiting tourists places,” the SDPO said, added that facilitating and helping tourists was essential, so the DPO took the decision.

He said police teams including traffic wardens, operation police will be present on the roads in a mobile vehicle at various points from Shangla top to Alpuri and Alpuri to Yakhtangay, similarly Shahpur to Ajmeer.

Mr Ali said police teams will also be present at iced roads in the district because tourists and inexperienced drivers do not know drive on iced roads and get stuck, sometimes meet accidents, however police will not only guide the drivers but also help them.

“We had requested the tehsil municipal administration TMA Alpuri for filing iced roads with mud to decrease the chances of traffic accidents due to slippery, and they have done,” He further said.

The SDPO added suggested the tourists to avoid reckless driving on snowy roads and must put snow chains around their vehicle tyres before entering to snow bound areas.

He said that they have placed the tourists facilitator’s police team leaders cellphone numbers for contact in case anyone need help or stuck in snow, as well as for complaining about the vendors receiving more money from tourists than fixed Rs 200 giving snow chains for one side travel.

He also warned the vendors to avoid cheating and over charging rent the strangers, particularly tourists, otherwise they would be punished for their offence.

Tourists also welcomed the Shangla police initiative says that it would help in boosting tourism in the area.
