No relief announced from Punjab Govt for flood victims: Muzzammil Aslam

Muzzammil Aslam condemns lack of relief and broken promises as public confidence shakes

Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on finance and interprovincial Coordination Muzzammil Aslam has said that not only has the Punjab government failed to provide relief to flood victims, but it hasn’t even made any announcements in this regard. People are still waiting for the relief package promised during 2022 floods.
Muzzammil Aslam stated that the promises to reconstruct buildings destroyed in the 2005 earthquake remain unfulfilled to this day. The recent floods have exposed the claims of Punjab’s development.
The advisor said that only a few roads were superficially polished and showcased, while no real work has been done on the basic infrastructure of roads in Punjab. He said agriculture has been completely ignored in Punjab, and afforestation was never even considered.
Young people are leaving the country on their own in search of employment abroad. Instead of dams and canals, the focus has only been on housing colonies.
He further said that the Punjab government‘s current, extremely poor flood response has shaken public confidence in governance. The Punjab government is waiting for federal aid, and the federal government is seeking permission from the IMF.
On the other hand, Bilawal is looking toward international aid, while the Prime Minister is too occupied with foreign trips and signing MoUs. The President’s absence and now his trip to China clearly shows lack of interest in public affairs.
