Grand Asian University Sialkot to lead 3rd National Workshop on UI GreenMetric Rankings

Governors, Ministers, and HEC leadership to convene with Universities on Green Campus strategies and SDG integration

Grand Asian University Sialkot is proud to announce the 3rd National Workshop on UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for Pakistani Universities, scheduled for September 17-18, 2025. This pivotal workshop will bring together leading voices from higher education institutions across Pakistan to advance sustainability practices and environmental responsibility. The workshop aims to engage higher education leadership, QEC professionals, and sustainability focal persons from across the country in promoting green campus strategies and advancing the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in higher education. In line with the Higher Education Commission (HEC)’s directives to adopt the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings and to promote sustainability initiatives within universities, Grand Asian University Sialkot is taking a proactive leadership role. The HEC has also issued letters to all private and public sector universities, encouraging them to participate in this workshop. The two-day event will focus on critical themes including green campus and environmental protection, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy, waste management and recycling, water conservation strategies, sustainable transportation systems, and the integration of sustainable practices into academic curricula and research. The workshop provides a valuable platform for universities to exchange best practices, address shared challenges, and enhance their sustainability performance. Governor Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider khan, Chairman HEC and Chairman PHEC have graciously agreed to participate in this important event. Minister for Planning and Development and Minister of State for Climate Change along with other dignitaries are expected to attend as well. Their unwavering commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strategic leadership in promoting sustainable growth in Pakistan strongly align with the workshop’s objectives. This initiative reflects the vision of Mr. Mohammad Islam, Chairman Board of Governors, Grand Asian University Sialkot. He is a passionate advocate for green policies and climate action. In continuation and success of the 1st international conference on Climate change in 2024, this workshop reaffirms the university’s dedication to environmental stewardship and its continued alignment with global sustainability goals.
