Swabi cloudburst operation concludes, 41 bodies recovered

The cloudburst struck Darolai village in Swabi on Monday evening, leading to the destruction of many homes due to the severe floods.

The search operation for missing persons in Swabi cloudburst-induced flood hit area concluded on Wednesday evening, 41 dead bodies have been recovered.

Bilal Ahmad Faizi, Spokesperson for the Rescue 1122, told The Northern Post that the operation for the search of missing bodies in Swabi Gadoon Dalorai has been concluded.

The cloudburst struck Darolai village in Swabi on Monday evening, leading to the destruction of many homes due to the severe floods.

Mr Faizi said that more than 150 rescue personnel were engaged in the operation for several days without interruption. The spokesperson said that heavy machinery and modern equipment were used during the search operation to remove obstacles and enable immediate access to the missing persons.

13 ambulances, 3 disaster response vehicles, 2 water rescue units, 3 fire vehicles, a recovery vehicle, 5 excavators and 2 loaders participated in the operation, which completed the rescue activities in a very organised manner.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmed has confirmed that the bodies of all the missing persons have been recovered, and now the relief and rehabilitation process is underway.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a daily report on loss of life and property in various districts of the province due to rains and flash floods.

So far, 385 people have died and 182 people have been injured in various accidents due to rain and flash floods in the province.
The dead include 299 men, 52 women and 34 children, while the injured include 145 men, 27 women and 10 children.

According to the report so far, a total of 1377 houses have been damaged due to rain and flash floods. In which 1022 houses were partially destroyed, and 355 houses were destroyed.
A total of 228 people have been displaced in Buner district, which was the most affected by the floods.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, predicted that the number of casualties from the floods could cross the 500 mark as people are still missing under the flood debris.

The Prime Minister Of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir also visited the flood affected districts on Wednesday and met the flood victims.
