The Karakoram Highway has been blocked at Murtazabad in Hunza and Ghulmet in Nagar following the arrest of Abbas Mir from Murtazabad and Farman Tajik and Ali Nazar from Sost.
According to the Pak‑China Border Traders Action Committee, the arrests were made to pre‑empt planned protests in Sost against taxes and other demands, and there are unconfirmed reports of further detentions.
Heavy police deployment has been reported at the Nasirabad Police Check Post to prevent protesters travelling from Nagar to Sost.
