In a tragic and shocking case of alleged honour killing, a young TikTok influencer known as Thal Ki Shehzadi, whose real name was Iqra, was shot dead at her home in Noorpur Thal tehsil of Khushab District.
According to local police, the victim was killed by her cousin who was reportedly enraged by her presence on social media and the content she posted. District Police Officer (DPO) Khushab, Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, confirmed that initial investigations suggest the murder was motivated by a perceived affront to family ‘honour’.
The suspect allegedly confronted Iqra over her videos, and in a moment of rage, opened fire, killing her instantly. She succumbed to her injuries before any medical help could arrive.
Police acted quickly and arrested the suspect. A case has been registered at the Noorpur Thal Police Station, and a detailed investigation is ongoing to uncover all aspects of the crime.
Iqra had built a notable following on TikTok and was recognized for her distinctive style and regional content, which resonated with many across Pakistan. Her sudden death has prompted an outpouring of grief and anger on social media, with users demanding justice and calling attention to the dangers women face for expressing themselves online.
Human rights activists have strongly condemned the killing, urging the government to implement effective legal protections for women and to take concrete actions against so-called honour-based violence.
“This is not just a murder — it is a stark reminder of how digital freedom for women is still met with lethal resistance in our society,” said a statement by a leading human rights organization.
As the investigation continues, many are hoping for a swift trial and a clear message from authorities that such brutality will not be tolerated.
