Severe storms, heavy rains, and hailstorms have caused widespread destruction across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, and Azad Kashmir, leaving at least two people dead and several injured. The extreme weather has triggered flooding, landslides, and structural collapses, disrupting daily life and infrastructure.
In KP, districts including Peshawar, Swat, Mansehra, Shangla, Bara, Landi Kotal, Balakot, and Kaghan Valley faced intense rainfall and hailstorms. A lightning strike killed one person in Shangla, while a child died in Nowshera after a roof collapse. Peshawar saw severe flooding, turning roads into rivers, while three people were injured when a hotel roof collapsed in Matni. A mother and son were hurt in Swabi due to another roof collapse.
The Karakoram Highway in Lower Kohistan was blocked at multiple points due to landslides and flooding, stranding travelers. Authorities are relocating tourists to safer areas as the Met Department predicts more rain in KP and Punjab over the next 24 hours.
In Azad Kashmir, a cloudburst near Muzaffarabad destroyed homes and a mosque, leaving one woman dead and several missing. Meanwhile, Murree and Galiyat experienced heavy rains and power outages, with warnings of further storms until June 1.
Islamabad was hit by a powerful dust storm, uprooting trees and damaging a car in G-6’s Aabpara Market. Attock reported a mud roof collapse in Shamsabad, injuring a woman. Hazro faced a severe dust storm that disrupted electricity, while Neelum Valley saw flash floods blocking the Neelum Highway.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of continued thunderstorms, hailstorms, and heavy rainfall across northern Pakistan, urging residents to take precautions. Rescue and relief operations are underway as authorities remain on high alert.
