For the first time of Upper Swat’s history a one-day art exhibition was held in Matta Tehsil of District Swat on Wednesday, attracting a large number of art lovers and students from various schools and colleges who came to explore the artistic work.
The event was organized by the District Administration Swat and the District Youth Affairs Swat at the hall of Sunrise School and College, Matta.
The exhibition was attended by Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Matta Mr. Nadem Ullah Khan, District Youth Officer Swat Mr. Haider Ali Khan, Principal of Sunrise School and College Matta Mr. Saif Ur Rahman, leader of Matta Scouts Open Group Mr. Haji Musa Khan, and others.
On this occasion, speakers said that artistic work can play a significant role in bringing about positive change in society. They noted that art is not only a source of enjoyment but also a powerful medium to highlight social evils.
Aman Ullah, the organizer of the event, told The Northern Post that this was the first art exhibition in the history of Upper Swat, aimed at bringing together all the artists of the region on one platform. “We exhibited various types of paintings, sketches, and calligraphy, and received a very positive response from the visitors,” he said, adding that he plans to establish an art gallery and art school in Upper Swat for students, and called on the government to support this initiative.
A large number of students from different schools and colleges visited the exhibition.
“I came along with my friends to see the paintings and sketches. I was given detailed explanations about the artwork and calligraphy,” said Gulalai Najib, a student of Hira Science College Matta, adding that such events should be organized more frequently in the future.
Another student, Umna Ihsan of Class 9, said she was very happy to see Islamic calligraphy and paintings about women. “This kind of art exhibition and competition should be held in our schools to showcase students’ skills and talents,” she said.
At the end of the event, shields were distributed to journalists and artists whose artwork was displayed.
