At least five members of a family were killed, and three others were sustained with critical injuries when a Peshawar-bound car plunged into a ravine due to a slippery road during rain.
According to the police station, Alpuri, a family was heading towards Peshawar to see off one of their family members to Saudi Arabia. When they reached the Kotkay area of Alpuri, it skidded off the road and plunged into the river, resulting in the deaths of five and two injured.
Police said the deceased and injured were from the same family.
The spokesperson for Rescue 1122 said that after receiving an emergency call, their team reached the location and shifted three dead bodies and two injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, Alpuri.
According to the police official, two of them succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.
He said a total of five had died and two were injured in the incident, and the cause of the fatal accident seemed to be heavy rain and a slippery road.
