District Buner, nestled in the picturesque Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, has long struggled with the pressing issue of girls’ education and literacy. The district’s alarmingly low female literacy rate is a stark reminder of the obstacles that hinder progress, including entrenched cultural norms, economic constraints, and inadequate educational infrastructure.
In a bid to address these challenges, the DLG Scholarship Program has been extended to District Buner, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards empowering girls through education. A ceremony held at the Government Girls High School in the district celebrated this initiative, bringing together esteemed guests such as Dr. Mehmuda Ali, SDEO Ms. Nayab Ajamal, Mr. Mughal Sab, and the school’s in-charge.
As the sole high school for girls in Tehsil, this institution plays a vital role in serving students from remote areas. To support these students, 15 scholarships were awarded to those who met the eligibility criteria, providing a beacon of hope for a brighter future.
Dr. Mehmuda Ali, who also runs the Qadar Nagar Trust in the district, lauded the efforts of DLG and the British Council for their tireless work in promoting girls’ education. SDEO Ms. Nayab Ajamal, representing the education department, echoed these sentiments, assuring that she would closely monitor the program’s progress and share updates.
The ceremony concluded on a high note from Focal person Mr Mughal sb and QasimKhan PD DLG, with the distribution of educational kits to the students, symbolizing a new chapter in their educational journey. This initiative serves as a testament to the power of collective effort in driving positive change and empowering girls to reach their full potential.
