Patrak Forest subdivision celebrates International Day of Forests

The day highlights the significance of forests in combating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and supporting livelihoods

An event was organized today at Patrak Forest subdivision, Dir Kohistan Forest Division to celebrate the International Day of Forests.
The International Day of Forests is celebrated annually on March 21st to raise awareness about the importance of forests and their vital role in sustaining life on Earth. The day highlights the significance of forests in combating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and supporting livelihoods. Environmental Protection as Forests act as the lungs of the planet, absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. They also help in preventing soil erosion and regulating water cycles, Biodiversity Conservation, Climate Change Mitigation and promoting Cultural & Spiritual Values.
Each year, the International Day of Forests has a theme to promote specific aspects of forest conservation and sustainable management. It encourages global efforts to protect forests through tree planting, education, and policy advocacy.
The event was held at EVERTON PUBLIC SCHOOL and was graced by Sub divisional Forest officer patrak Mr Muhib ullah khan, and sub divisional Education officer Mr Muhammad Ayaz, as the chief guest. Principal Everton public school Farid urehman Faculty members, students, moreover Sub divisional forest officer patrak along with field staff arranged and participated in the event.
As part of the event:
Deodar saplings were planted.
100 Chir saplings were distributed among students to assure the theme of the day.
