Windstorm damages suspension bridge in Kabalgram Shangla

SHANGLA: A suspension wooden bridge over the Indus River linking Kabalgram area of Shangla with Torghar was damaged due to heavy windstorm the other night. The people of Kabalgram would use the bridge to bring food commodities from Torghar.

Local people told this correspondent on Wednesday that the suspension bridge, which links Kabalgram area of Shangla with Torghar, was damaged and most of its planks broke down after it was hit by strong windstorm.

Taj Akbar, a resident of the area, said that the bridge was already in bad shape and they had repeatedly informed the relevant authorities about it, but to no avail. He said that many accidents had occurred on the bridge in which several people were injured.

He said that the bridge was the sole source of transportation of food commodities from Torghar.
The local people have demanded of the government to rebuild the bridge as soon as possible so that they could bring food commodities from Torghar.

Meanwhile, a wildlife watcher died after he fell from a cliff. According to sub-divisional forest officer, Zahid Hussain, the watcher of a compartment, Bakht Afsar, died after he fell from a cliff.

He was laid to rest in Domrai area of Shangla.
