SHANGLA: The local administration on Friday launched a crackdown on transporters who had been overcharging commuters despite a significant reduction in oil prices.
A team headed by assistant commissioner Bisham, Khuram Rehman Jadoon stopped public transport vehicles plying on different routes and asked the passengers about fares charged from them. Several passengers told the official that the drivers had received exorbitant fares from them in violation of the official fare list.
AC Bisham directed the traffic police wardens to fine those transporters receiving exorbitant fare and did not decrease despite significant decline in the petrol and diesel prices.
