Strong winds paralysis life in Bisham

SHANGLA: The routine life in Bisham city and its outskirts remained disturbed for the last over a week and dozens of steel rooftops of the houses, signs boards and other temporary structures blown away by the strong winds, electricity suspended for second consecutive day.
The seasonal strong winds witnessed by the local people after two decades which continued for the 8 consecutive day causing disruption of electricity due to spark of high transmission lines.
Including the rooftops of the kitchens of the several houses and the newly built general bus stations in the Bisham city blown away due to the strong winds.
Jamshid Ali Shah, a local said including his hotel barbecue structure, kitchens of the houses in his area blown away also the electricity suspended for the last two days.
He said due to constant power outage and strong winds life in the Bisham had become hard and they faced problems.
The strong winds starts in Bisham, Chakai of Kohistan, Kormang areas of the district Shangla only in December every year and continues till March, however, the elders in Bisham city said the winds of this season was more strong witnessed in the past two decades.
Rehmat Wali, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company PESCO’s official, when contacted, said that the strong winds had disturbed entire transmission of the power supply in the region.
He added that the high transmission lines and poles were too old and never changed since its first installation which needed to be changed but despite submission of several requests to the Pesco authorities the issues was not resolved.
He said the lose high transmission lines in different points touched with each others due to the strong winds and caused suspension of power supply, also the wires touched with tree near to the lines as the winds this season was more powerful than the past.
Meanwhile, the assistant commissioner, Bisham, Khuram Rehman Jadoon, told this correspondent that restoration of power supply was underway to connect the transmission lines as well as cutting of tree branches touches with the lines in various points.
