Special anti-polio drive in Shangla from July 15

SHANGLA: The four-day special anti-polio campaign will kick off in Shangla from July 15. The drive has been planned after detection of a polio case in Dedal Kamach area of the district last month.

This was decided in a meeting chaired by Shangla deputy commissioner Fayaz Khan Sherpao in Alpuri. DHO Mohammad Riaz Khan, EPI coordinator Wajid Ali Khan and officials of provincial team for emergency and line departments were also present on the occasion.

Wajid Ali briefed the meeting about the preparations for the special campaign commencing from July 15. He said that this time LHWs would actively take part in the drive. He said that around 171,508 children under five years of age would be administered polio vaccine for which 772 teams had been formed. He said that 182 supervisors locally and 46 on union council level would supervise the campaign.
The DC said that monitors of Emergency Operation Centre, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, would also supervise the campaign.
