SHANGLA: Tenders of over Rs 300 million small development projects were opened at 10-53 percent below in tehsil municipal administration Alpuri and Bisham here on Saturday.
The tenders of various development schemes including Well bore, Roads, Electric Power Supply, water and sanitation were opened at TMA office Bisham and TMA office Alpuri separately in which over 250 contractors had applied in the bidding.
Sources in TMA Bisham , said that for the projects of worth Rs 144.1 million 250 contractors had applied for the schemes in which 28 contractors won the bid but the worst thing was that some contractors had given 53.21 per cent below rate.
The projects for the both tehsil Alpuri and Bisham of Rs 300 million were approved by the minister for labour in culture Shaukat Yousafzai consisting of water supply, well-bore, electricity, PCC roads and rough roads.
Sources in TMA said, for the second time contractors had taken the contracts of such small projects 53 percent below, like Rs 0.8 million project would be executed on Rs 0.3 million.
Sources said, Rs 158.6 million projects tenders were open at TMA Alpuri and also bid winner contractors had given 50 plus below rate.
Minister for labour and culture, Shaukat Yousafzai when contacted in this regard, told The Northern Post that he severally take up the matter at the assembly floor and cabinet to not provide contracts blow the 10 percent but due to the Kppra rules the policy could not change yet.
He said that he contacted the both tehsils TMOs and instructed him to provide the schemes work orders within 10 days and keep strict check on the contractors work and give three months for completion to them.
“If the schemes were not completed within three months of scheduled time the contractor would be black listed. I will ask department about the delay and use of sub-standard material,” He said.
Minister said, a contractor with Muqarab Khel company had also taken most of the contracts of these schemes and unfortunately the same company had yet to completed its previous schemes laying pending.
He said, from today and onwards I will keep check and have already instructed the departments to ban such contractors who do not complete schemes on time.
